Budget 3D Printer Picker
Not another "best of" list. Tell us your budget and what you want to print, and we'll match three printers with the reasons and the trade-offs.
Prices are rough US price bands as of October 2026, not live prices — always check the current price before buying. Outside the US, add shipping and import duties (South African buyers typically pay customs duty and 15% VAT on imports).
How we score printers
Printers above your budget are heavily penalised. Your main goal is a hard filter where it matters (multi-colour needs multi-material support; ABS/ASA needs an enclosure; resin only shows for miniatures). Beginner-friendly features (auto calibration, simple setup) and a large bed add points. The scoring is the same for every brand and nobody pays to be included.

FAQ
What is the best 3D printer for a beginner on a budget?
In the $200–$350 range the Bambu Lab A1 mini and A1 are the easiest to start with. Under $200, the Creality Ender-3 V3 SE is the usual pick.
Do I need an enclosed printer?
Only for ABS, ASA, nylon and similar materials that warp in drafts. PLA, PETG and TPU print fine on open printers.
Resin or filament for miniatures?
Resin (MSLA) gives much finer detail for miniatures, but needs gloves, ventilation and IPA washing. Filament is easier and better for larger functional parts.
